Hippotherapy

Our Results:

Since 1986, Center for Rehabilitation & Development's caring therapists have offered innovative therapies for children and adults that use the latest research to produce the best results for their clients.

"I am pleased with the progress Ken has made since starting the Hippotherapy program. He is walking with more mobility and his balance and endurance have improved. He is initiating doing things for himself...and he rarely uses his wheelchair. Ken's therapists and volunteers at the farm have done an outstanding job."

What is Hippotherapy?

.  "Hippotherapy" is the use of a horse to achieve functional therapeutic outcomes.  Physical, occupational and speech therapists use hippotherapy as part of the overall treatment plan.

.  The horse's movement combined with the therapist's input imparts a precise, repetitive pattern of movement very similar to the movement of a person's pelvis during normal walking.

.  Participants enjoy the sensory experience of three-dimensional movement through space, which is impossible to provide in the clinic.
