Early Intervention

Many parents struggle on a daily basis with the knowledge that a child they love may have a disorder or disability that requires treatment. Often, these parents are not sure what is wrong, where to turn, or even what to do.

If you are one of these parents, you know the frustrations that your child faces, and the impact that a child's disability can have on your family and home life. CRD's pediatric rehabilitation professionals can help you. We treat many childhood disorders and disabilities effectively.

At CRD, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up to live a full and happy life. Moreover, we believe that every child is capable of achieving that goal, given the proper environment and opportunities. At CRD, caring therapists are ready to help your child and you with the most current, most promising, and most appropriate therapies available in order to give your child every opportunity to improve his or her circumstances.

Protect Your Child through Early Intervention

More than twenty years of research and practice have confirmed that the earlier we help a child, the greater will be the immediate and life-long benefits for children, their families and society. Diagnosis and treatment of the problem at the earliest possible age is key.

Because motor and communication skills develop in infancy, and because early stimulation is so important to all brain function, it is important to deal with delays in development as early as possible. Early help for your child will improve his or her chances for normal development and will help to build self-confidence. Early intervention may also prevent additional handicapping conditions, reduce family stress, and increase the child's independence. So if you have and concerns about whether your child's development of communication, motor or self-help skills is on target, check out the information on or website and call your local CRD clinic today.

What to Do First

Help is available. You should acquaint yourself with treatment options. If you have not done so already, the first step is to see your family physician or pediatrician. Ask whether your child has a medical diagnosis or developmental delay that may be helped by rehabilitative therapy. If so, ask your doctor to make a referral to CRD for evaluation and therapy. If you do not have a doctor, or do not know whom to call, please call us and we will be glad to help you locate a skilled physician or specialist for your child.

What Happens Next

After referral from your doctor, we will start by conducting a thorough evaluation of your child's development. If the results of our evaluation show that therapy may be helpful, the evaluating therapists will work as a team to create treatment plans. There is ongoing communication and collaboration among the treatment team to design and implement the most effective approach to helping your child. Periodically the team will meet to evaluate your child's progress and will make adjustments to improve outcomes. Family involvement is strongly encouraged and supported, since this is the best way to help your child continue progress at home.

If you or someone you know has a child that needs help, call or email us today. With the wonderful therapies that are available today, there is no reason for any child to go without the help that can make a marked difference in his or her life.
